Through the power of advocacy, public health initiatives such as seat belt, tobacco prevention, safe drinking water, and nutrition labeling laws have been put into place. For the betterment of the community, it is necessary that public health professionals and others with expertise and experience in the field, educate and advocate public health initiatives to lawmakers through evidence-based research. Additionally, informed citizens have the power to educate and influence their elected officials about critical public health issues. Constituents can call, send emails/letters, and reach out through social media to voice their concerns.
