Harm Reduction

The Harm Reduction team is working to lessen the negative health impacts of opioid and other substance use in La Crosse County. 

Workgroup lead: 
Catherine Kolkmeier (ckolkmeier@uwlax.edu)

Current Goals: 
  • Expand/create diversion programs into treatment in lieu of criminal charges
  • Expand Narcan distribution and training within the community (with AED/CPR units) - OFRT implementation activity 
  • Education of Hotel Managers of Overdose awareness - OFRT implementation activity
  • Create a sustainable mechanism for needle pickup and disposal 
  • Work with HS to expand the availability of fentanyl strips to individuals using substances
