SAFE DISPOSAL OF SHARPS AND MEDICATIONS

SHARPS (NEEDLES)

The safest way to dispose of a used needle is to immediately place it in a sharps disposal container. This helps to prevent injury (pokes/cuts) and spread of disease.
How to safely get rid of sharps:
  • Find a sturdy empty plastic container ex: empty laundry detergent bottle
  • Write or label the container ex: "Sharps", "Biohazard", or "Infectious Waste"
  • Makes sure the container is tightly sealed and secured with tape
  • Take container to a near collection site
*Please do not throw away loose needles and other sharps in trash cans or recycling bins, and never flush them down the toilet.*
